WHAT IS A DTS – DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL?
A Discipleship Training School is an intensive training course for Christians who are interested in changing their world for Christ! The school is a total of 22 weeks, 12 weeks of lecture and 10 weeks of practical outreach. DTS combines theory with hands-on experience to give our students a balanced understanding of missions and ministry. Our goal is for our students to learn and grow in their knowledge of the Character of God and allow this to mold their own character, so that when the opportunities for ministry come, the knowledge gained and the experiences they have had will help them to better serve and understand those they are ministering to.
The DTS begins with a lecture phase here in Tbilisi, Georgia. In our facility, students will live together with their staff. The school is designed to develop students’ personal character as they learn the character of God. DTS helps students exercise their faith as they begin to identify and use their unique gifts and callings, while developing a living and intimate relationship with God. DTS also helps students develop global awareness, preparing them to reach current and future generations by obeying Jesus’ command to “Go into all the world and preach the good news” [Mark 16:15] and to “Make disciples of all nations” [Matthew 28:19].
The YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Motto is “To Know God and Make Him Known”. The students are trained to integrate the ways of God into their hearts and lifestyles. The emphasis is not just on gaining knowledge but on helping students apply Biblical principles of Christianity to their everyday lives. It’s about transformation! Their lives are changed, their hearts are filled with faith, and their thinking is brought closer into line with God’s thinking.
The DTS has been designed to help Christians see the world through God’s eyes, giving a life-changing message of hope to it. We want to see nations transformed through the training of individuals in the ways of Christ. Then these individuals are released back into the body of Christ to transform the areas of society that the Lord has called and gifted them for. God wants to influence every part of society – the church, education, arts and media, science and technology, counseling and healthcare, government, business, and whatever else the Lord is calling you to.
If you are looking for a training course that will sharpen your perception of God and His purposes for your life, then a DTS at YWAM Tbilisi is an excellent way to start!
