YWAM Tbilisi believes we are called to work with and focus on two main groups of people:  children and Muslims.  We reach both of these groups in a variety of ways.

If you’re interested in working with children, you can help us out at the local projects to Kurdish street children.  These kids have homes, parents and come from a mainly Muslim background, but they are forced to go to the streets from morning to evening to beg money to bring home to their families.  Because of this, they don’t attend school and many don’t know such basic things as writing and reading.  Unfortunately they know tougher lessons of life, like how to survive on the street.  We volunteer with them twice a week, teaching them reading, writing, mathematics, manners, crafts, and give all the love we can.

We also visit orphanages, do kid’s programs in villages, help out with a local Sunday school that has children from both Christian and Muslim families.  There is a lot for you to do!!

If you’re interested in working with Muslims, we have another loction in a neighboring town that has a mostly Muslim population.  This location is also strategic because it is a central location to reach out to both Muslim and Orthodox Christian villages.

We also help facilitating seminars that teach locals about Islam and how to reach out to Muslims.

Here’s a list of some of the YWAM Tbilisi ministries:

• working with street kids
• visiting unreached villages
• reaching out to beggars
• youth groups
• kid’s clubs
• Discipleship Training School (DTS)
• hosting outreach teams
• outreach to Muslim peoples
• hosting seminars to equip locals
• networking with local churches

We are open to work together with you if you or a team is interested in coming to work in Georgia short term.  Feel free to contact us!  If you’re interested in working long-term in Georgia with the different ministries we’ve listed here, then please consider applying for our yearly Discipleship Training School (DTS).

This program concentrates more on character than theology, but the teaching will both equipe and challenge you and will give you a foundation for working with our organization Youth With a Mission (all full-time YWAM staff around the world have completed a DTS).  After completing the course you then have the opportunity to apply for a full-time staff position and hundreds of locations around the world– wherever God is calling you!!

DTS is an intensive course where you can learn about God’s character, His ways and His desires for all people!  And after you’ve learned, you will be able to practically use your new  knowledge in a variety of settings.  The course is 22 weeks long 12 weeks are spent in the classroom with different lectures each week.  Some of the topics that will be covered are: the Father Heart of God, Missions in the World, Identity in Christ, Reaching Muslims, Making Disciples of Children, and many more!!  Also during these 12 weeks, all students and as many staff as possible will live together in our facility which is located just about 10 minutes from the city of Tbilisi.  This is another way that DTS provides opportunity for character growth.  It’s not an 8am-5m classroom experience… it’s 24/7!  Challenging?  Yes.  Worth it?  Totally!

Following the 12-week lecture phase, you then head out on a 10 week cross-cultural & practical outreach.  In the past we’ve been to different nations: Turkey, Armenia & Azerbaijan, as well as many villages in the 4 corners of Georgia!  You will get more than you could ever imagine in experience and learn what it means to lay down your life and follow Jesus.  He did say, ‘He who wishes to save his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake will keep it…” Let’s make a choice that will last for eternity.

You can already begin to apply!!  The next DTS in Tbilisi will begin on March, 2013. The sooner you apply, the better!  So don’t wait.  If you feel God calling you, follow Him.  You won’t regret it!
